Awesome film! :)

Avoid the standard cut which ruins this movie; the directors cut is a huge difference and is the definitive version.

I love this film, it’s a slow build and I did enjoy the ending.

I discovered this film 'by accident' when it was quite new, and I've since watched it several times. It has an absolutely incredible atmosphere, and it's one of the most strikingly distinctive films I've ever seen. It immediately established itself as one of my all-time favourite films, which is saying something as I've seen a LOT of them. There are some really top class actors in this – not least a terrific (and badly under-credited) performance by Ian 'House of Cards' Richardson as Mr Book). It's the sort of film that reveals more of itself on repeated viewing, and it's certainly something I've enjoyed watching several times. The visuals are fantastic, complemented perfectly by excellent music, and the story is mysterious and engaging. It's a very immersive film. Clearly you DO need to be a sci-fi fan to 'get it', because ultimately sci-fi is what it is—but this is very original sci-fi, far removed from what one normally expects from the genre. I can't express how much I like this film. Every so often, I just feel that I have to watch it again… it's strange but wonderful fare. I feel sorry for the single one-star reviewer here, whose vocabulary is limited to one word: 'bad'. A perfect example of how you can't please everyone. But honestly, to accuse such actors as Ian Richardson, William Hurt and the others of being 'bad' just because you don't understand the film is a grave injustice. In fact, the performances from all the big-name cast are excellent here. The film itself is hugely atmospheric, engrossing and intelligently different. It's a true masterpiece in my opinion; maybe not as widely recognised as such as it deserves to be, but most people seem to come away from it highly impressed. Anyway, five stars from me. An absolute classic.

Fascinating and reminiscent of A scanner darkly and Sin City... This is up there with Event Horizon as one of the best sci fi/ goth movies ever made. \Watch it!

One of the worst films I've ever seen. I only watched it to the end because I'd paid to rent it. Which is dumb as why waste time as well as money. Although I was intrigued to see how bad it could get. Jaw droppingly bad is the answer. If it didn't take itself so seriously it would be funny, but its not. It's just really bad. Bad acting, bad plot, bad directing, bad script. Bad bad bad bad bad. Think of a bad film, then double it. Under no circumstances buy it. If you have watched every other film in the world and are at a loose end, rent it if you must, but you'll be sorry.

Buy it now. I hope this film will be made for a mass market one day with some money spent on it and the effects of Van Helsing to attract everyone to what is a very different Scifi film. Wonderful, frightening, thought provoking and great acting. The story develops with the viewer even though we are a bit ahead of the main Character until the two merge in a satisfying momment, order from confusion in the end. Chilling story with a very human ending.......more please!

I watched this movie yesterday. Prior to that I have never even heard of it. Which is strange, because it is a remarkable, truly atmospheric thriller- sci-fi - film noir mixture. The film has a very energetic tempo all along. The acting is half-genius (Keifer), half-blahh (the main character), but it does not take away from the overall values of the movie: great story, with a really surprising twist, pleasant score, exciting characters and - at some places - artistic visuality and direction. How could i miss it so far?? Highly recommended.

Far better than the matrix, this film isnreally special. Well worth the money.

I'm not a pro film critic so excuse the layman terms! Value for money: I'm personally really glad to have seen this and it was well worth the £2.49, but I am glad I rented it as I don't think it's the kind of film you would watch again and again so I'm glad I didn't buy it. General Genre: I'd describe this as a mixture of fantasy sci-fi / classic detective story / comic book style directing. My take on it: It's quite a dark movie in every sense of the word and you'll either like it or not. It's not a *realistic* film, so if you think you'll not understand the imagery and want something more real then this isn't for you. But I loved it. I'd say if you like Darkman or the darker Batman stories then you'd like this, as would fans of the darker super hero comic characters. It's not a film I'd watch with a bunch of mates as it's likely to not be appreciated by all.
