Re last post: Of course he's missing his wife! He spends the whole film desperately looking for her,and he shows no inappropriate interest in the girl helping him who actually risks the life of Ford's wife in the car-park scene. To Ford, the girl is a feckless druggie but he warms to her later in the film, but only in a friendly and compassionate way, as is natural if you're stuck with someone through dangerous circumstances. The ending bears out his mutual love for his wife and their sense of human compasssion for the girl.

this is my opinion is an average movies that in its day was fantastic when i first saw it on the cinema. It has not aged well and in typical polanski fashion is long drawn out and 30 minutes too long. the film leads painfully to its obvious ending which is nothing short of 'thank god it got there'. Harrison ford is anything other than frantic and too be honest i was not that convinced he missed his leading lady that much - especially when his side kick played by seiger is much better looking and seemed to care about him more than his wife in the short on screen time they had together (taken into account). this film is worth a rent but to own it might make you feel short changed - i bought it and regret this now
