Description

An elite military unit (SG-1) must flee back to Earth when two members of their team inexplicably disappear into thin air. But they return to a world in which the Stargate -- an Ancient device which allows them to travel to hundreds of planets -- was never discovered, and their own history has been erased. Now they must convince a dubious government and military that the timeline was altered by a powerful Alien enemy (Ba'al) in order to conquer Earth, and time is not on their side.

Time travel rarely works as an idea. Most franchises only use it when they run out of ideas; this is very evident here. The action scenes were too short and generally poor and I found nothing else of any entertainment value. If you are (unlike me) a huge stargate fan, by all means watch it. I, however, cannot see a reason why this is entertaining.

Whilst I am a die hard fan (which kind of makes it nearly impossible for me to leave an unbiased review!), I would have to say that the story line is good, and in keeping with a good sci-fi format. I was particularly impressed by the shoot locations, from inside the arctic circle, to a nuclear sub - both make for a great canvas for the story to unfold. A time travel element always works well, as do other plot twists. Some of it is fairly predictable, but if you are familiar with the characters, you will enjoy the movie. Having Richard Dean Anderson in the movie lends the movie a great deal of weight too. This movie ties up a couple of loose ends from the series, but works well as a standalone too. Personally, I have to say I preferred The Ark of Truth as a movie - but then I speak as someone who needed some resolution to the end of season 10!

This is ok, its not as visually exciting or emotive as The Ark of Truth, and I expected more, im a die hard fan though, so I bought it still.

This film is great!!! Definitely worth watching. But it might be interesting only for Stargate fans because it may be difficult to follow the story when you haven't seen the 10 seasons of the serial. A must buy for Stargate fans!!!

I enjoyed the first film and much of the series . This is an OK follow up but not that good. The plot is pretty predictable but the whole thing makes a pleasant 1hr 40 minutes watch. The other reviews definitely overhype this. It is OK and if you are a stargate fan I would guess pretty unmissable. If you are real SciFi fan then this is unlikely to be in your top ten films.
  • Stargate at it's best

A great movie featuring the best of all the Stargate cast. the return of Jack O'Neill and General Hammond (The much missed Don S Davies). After the somewhat disappointing Ori storyline we are brought back with the return of the Gould at their most evil. A cracking storyline and amazing effects support the very talented cast of Stargate. This is the show at it's very best and I seriously hope this movie is not the last we see of them. Any fan of the franchise should own this.
