Xanadu

I saw this in the cinema in 1980, hated the movie, loved the music. Fast forward to 2022 and the untimely death of Olivia Newton-John, time to revisit. The concept regarding the plot is really light, you wonder what the writers were thinking when assembling the plot. The direction is really poor and those annoying screen wipes jolt you out of the movie. The plus points; The music still works really well. The high camp nods to Gene Kelly’s previous work, notably the choreography with Jerry mouse, faithfully recreated with ONJ. The feel good factor after watching this. Leave your brain on autopilot, let the 80’s wash over you, marvel at the horrendous(in a good way) period clothing and just have fun. Grease is the obvious highlight of her career, this is just a little oddity and should be enjoyed as such.

A favourite from Childhood - Loved the Music and of course gene Kelly on Skates!

I was a young teenager when this was released and I have remained a great fan of it. It makes you think of happy times and of music that actually had a meaning. A truly amazing relaxing film. THANKYOU to the writers, stars and producers x

I love this film and music so much.I was so inspired by the magic, growing up my cat was xanny and my fav' dolls name was keira and now I'm a mummy and my lil girl is called keira and she is now my inspiration for life.... Soppy, sad a little but all true.x.x
