Description

Kevin Costner plays the most famous lawman ever to stride the Wild West. In a gritty, complex portrayal hailed as a "classic American performance" (Bob Campbell, Newhouse Newspapers), Academy Award winner Costner (Dances with Wolves, The Bodyguard) plays the man who became a myth in acclaimed director Lawrence Kasdan's (The Big Chill, Silverado) epic, action-filled saga. Gene Hackman, an Oscar winner for Unforgiven, as Wyatt's iron-willed father, and Dennis Quaid (The Big Easy, The Right Stuff) as Earp's deadly best friend Doc Holliday add power to this mammoth, hard-hitting Western. From Wichita to Dodge City to the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, Wyatt Earp is a thrilling journey of romance, adventure and desperate, heroic action.

Although long this film is brilliant. It was compared somewhat unfavourably to Tombstone which came out the same summer, where Tombstone focuses largely on the famous gun fight, Wyatt Earp covers his whole life. Really worth watching. Certainly worth purchasing the HD version.

Costner is amazing in this film and the cast fits around him perfectly. His relationship with his first girlfriend gets a bit tiresome but other than that some great one liners. "I think their must be". Well done Kevin!

Wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated for Best Picture!

To long, to meandering and not half as good as Kurt Riussell and Val Kilmer in Tobstone. As westerns go it wotrth watching, but not a great example of the genre. Costner has done better western, "Open Range", so where is it ITunes?

As i also share the surname Earp this film has helped me find out more about the possible link i may have with the wild west. As far as the film goes it is great! With an all star cast consisting of Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid and Gene Hackman this really is a well acted biopic of the Earp brothers and their fight against the Mclearys and the Clantons. A must watch for any wild west fan!
