Description

Val Kilmer stars with Jennifer Esposito and Gary Cole in this explosive, action-packed film about a former Special Operations United States Marine who brings justice to a small border town. After he's wounded during combat in Iraq, MacPherson (Kilmer) reluctantly agrees to join a fellow soldier at his Arizona ranch. But when MacPherson arrives, his friend has mysteriously disappeared and no one will admit to knowing him. When he discovers that a corporate entity is running illegal aliens out of town by any means possible, MacPherson decides to get revenge and won't stop until everyone involved has been punished for their crimes.

I find it really hard to say abd things about movies, but this movie was possibly the worst i have seen in ages. Plot: very loosely linked together with a large proportion of flat and stale stereotypes Acting: Mostly poor, all i can see the main character doing is staring blankly, and when he does speak its complete drivvel Action: Mostly poor, with the exception of the opening, and at the end, and at the end, all of a sudden a very small and outback town all of a sudden has like a bazzilion corrupt and poorly trained police men who all assemble in one place mirraculously . Over all a very poor film, although the theme of shellshock could possibly have been a good film if it had noting to do with this cast >.<

Lo-Budget thriller that actually delivers a satisfying tale of small town corruption and one man's struggle to defeat the corrupters and the complacent. Whilst standard fare, Val Kilmer turns in an eminently watchable performance as the slightly too old, slightly too big to be the ex-Marine he accordingly is. Reminding us also that he can act when he can be bothered. The slight use of 'flashback' to his time in Iraq is a bit hackneyed - but not enough to detract overall. The pace is decent - the first half perhaps a little slow, with the backstory taking a while to build-up, however once we're through with that and Val runs into the locals it develops into solid, if sedate, action. There's very good use of computer graphics to give us a disabled Val too, which adds nicely to the feel of the movie more generally.
