Watchable acting. great script, plot and follow through direction. American Cinema at its best. There's very little that comes out of the US that touches this. Paul Newman and Charlotte Rampling are brilliant. Director Sidney Lumet was CLASS. Worth seeing everything he made !! Of course Oscars abound.

I can't believe I'm the first person to review this film! If you havent seen this film before and seen a master at work on his craft, then you are missing a treat. This is one of Paul Newmans' finest performances, of which there has been many, and one of the best courtroom legal dramas since 12 angry men (another fine movie). The astute character acting and excellent dialogue, along with a fine supporting cast, make this an intense and moving experience to behold. Absolutely first class in my book. I love this film. So please all you airheads and non-thinking neanderthals who need special effects or need to see something blow up on screen to have a truly wonderful movie experience. Leave this film well alone. You won't like it! As you'll need to engage your brain, and we don't want that now do we?
