Almost unwatchable at time becasue it's so awkward, but it builds to such an incredible finale that it's worth it. This is Robin Williams at his finest and a beautiful movie.

First of all I want to make a correction to some of the reviews I've seen... This is NOT a "scary" film. It's a lonely mans caring obsession with a family. The husband in unfaithful. This comes to light during the processing of a roll of film. Robin Williams portrayal of the mini lab technician is excellent. A truly great film which I have watched many times.

This is a fantastic film, beautifully shot and skilfully plotted with a fascinating lead character ’Sy'. Robin Williams’s performance is absolutely staggeringly brilliant in its heart-breaking humanity, his refusal to dehumanise ‘Sy’ as a ‘mad/ bad person’ but as someone who is lonely, traumatised and desperately longing for connection. Just watch his eyes - they tell an incredible story as we follow Sy’s desperate, if misjudged, attempts to belong to a family. It is genuinely tense, creepy and scary at times. It’s a great watch and I recommend it!

I watched this movie one night on channel four and i said that i would watch only 15 minutes of it. But that wasnt enough, there is so much tention in this movie that i would recomend it to people who love a good thriller.
  • Slightly depressing, but definitely worth it

Great. Superb acting. Exciting and scary . However, be warned- the overall theme of lonliness and the storyline around the dark secret of this seemingly 'perfect family' is very sad and traumatic. Nonetheless, I would definitely reccomend it to people who love thrillers and scary films. Definitely worth watching.

I am hard to please when it comes to frightening films, as in geniunely fightening films. the trick with this movie is that it shows how horrific Sy's life is, along themes of emptiness, dysjuncture etc. To put it simply, it's very creepy. Also, his nightmare is one of the scariest scenes I have seen in many years. I would highly recommend this film, but bear in mind you will feel very low afterwards- it's that heavy. Not something for a light evening!

Acting is phenomenal, the script is well written and locations are stunning to mundane to desolate...Above all the one thing that stands out in this film is it's bleak honesty about a society where "the best of us" have untold secrets. I loved this film, alas I only ever seen it once because I cannot imagine sitting down to watch it all again knowing what is coming next. But, still a brilliant film.
