Description

Richard (DiCaprio) a young American backpacker, is willing to risk his life for just one thing: that mind-blowing rush you can only get from braving the ultimate adventure. But on a secret, deceptively perfect beach, he’ll soon discover that, as the level of intensity rises and the stakes climb higher, desire grows stronger... and danger grows deeper. Co-starring gorgeous Virginie Ledoyen, this “ journey to the unexpected, full of surprises, twists and turns, love and romance, lust and desire” (Maria Sallas, GEMS) explores the hidden perils and dark places that lurk just beyond the shores of paradise...

If you read the book first don’t bother. If you haven’t then it’s probably a good film. Removing a main character (Jed) and making the main protagonist so different to the original did not work for me atall

From the moment i finished watching this film for the first time, years ago, i felt so moved and inspired. It incorporates a bit of everything and is composed in such a way that it fully engages you in this journey. The soundtrack is another great aspect of this movie. One of my favourite films for life. Just had to buy it.

This film is great from the start, it gives you a feeling of getting away from everything and how it can all go wrong in a flash... Brilliant actors and storyline throughout!

This movie works on so many levels. It entertains and yet it provokes deep thought about many of the things we seek in life. My fav Danny Boyle film.

This film really gripped me from start to finish. Great 'Lord of the Flies' reminiscent insight into human fickleness / reality. One of my favourite scenes is the gaming-style scene that shows DiCaprio on his own, losing it a bit in the jungle as he learns to fend for himself - again a great metaphor for how it really is a jungle out there and life is a bit of a game at times - with scary foes. Beautiful camera shots - love the underwater romantic scene too. Highly recommended.

this film is one of my favourite films of all time, ive lost count of how many times ive seen it, however it never gets old! leonardo and etienne are both gorgeous! however, as fascinating of a storyline as it is, its also quite sad in parts, but still worth the watch afterall its not real (:

Read the book a while ago now and finally decided to watch the film. Glad I did because I loved it - not quite as good as the novel itself though (but then they usually aren't) :) Ohh and "Itchy" - if you were four when it came out (2000) then you were born in 1996 which only makes you 14 now so you still aren't old enough?? x
