Description

The Cairn's (Sam Rockwell and Vera Farmiga) have it all: good marriage, nice apartment, a gifted nine-year-old son, Joshua, and a baby on the way. When their second child arrives, the young boy begins to resent his parents constant doting on his new sister. Suddenly, a series of tragic events fill the Cairn household with utter despair and unspeakable horror. The events leave the family questioning if it's all a series of eerie coincidences...or the calculated agenda of a sinister sibling with the perfect plan for revenge?

  • Clever and creepy psychological thriller...

This is a genuinely chilling film with a real understanding of psychopathy. Joshua isn't an axe waving maniac or a devil-spawn caricature instead he is quietly and subtly malevolent. Personally I thought the ending was brilliant. Over all a very clever, well produced and disturbing thinking-person's horror.

I was really disappointed in this film - it looks like it has a great makings of a psychological horror - unique story line etc, but the film is slow moving, boring and lacks anything remotely clever in it at all. The ending is by far one of the worst I've witnessed - no climax or revelation, just ended it at the wrong place in the wrong way. The only thing I can praise in this film is the actors are good - especially the mother and joshua himself. Dissapointing, boring, don't be fooled by the way the commercial has dressed it up to look like a blockbuster - its just another failed movie in the $1 bin.
