Description

Richard Cooper (Chris Rock), a successful investment banker with a beautiful, intelligent wife and two gorgeous kids at home, would seem to have it all. However, between the daily commutes from the suburbs to New York City, the endless business meetings, the kids’ diapers, and the Wiggles on TV, there’s only one thing on Richard’s mind: women. The women he sees on the commuter train in the morning, the women who walk the streets of Manhattan, the women he fantasizes about in order to alleviate the boredom of his mundane routine life. Happily married to Brenda (Gina Torres), Richard has no intention of cheating, until an old friend, the stunning Nikki (Kerry Washington), appears at Richard’s office door, asking for help in landing a job. During lulls in his workday, Richard starts meeting Nikki for late lunches, and the banker’s conventional life begins to turn upside down.

Now, I love Chris Rock. I saw him in Birmingham this year. He was great. But there aren't any good bits that aren't in the trailer. The rest is just sentimental schmaltz.

If you are married or in a long term relationship you know exactly what the story is all about, and are probably living it. His stand up routine concerning this subject is far more entertaining, alot shorter and with alot more laughs. Having said that the rental money is probably worth the last ten to eight minutes to see that body in that underwear.
  • Why watch the film when you can watch the trailer?

I haven't even paid for the film yet, but after the trailer I know what it's all about. Predictable.

At first when hearing about this film I felt that it would be a little tacky due to the fact it's Chris Rock doing a feature length movie, and I have previously only seen his stand up. However, I was proved very much wrong - he is both an excellent comedian and actor, with this film being both humourous and also poignant at times, highlighting a problem many men seem to experience in marriage, and how devious women can be. The only problem with this film is the ending, which verges on ridiculous, but however, Chris Rock's 'narrative voice' throughout the film makes up for it. Definitely rent/buy this when it finally comes to itunes.
