Description

Stardate: the 23rd Century. Retired Starfleet officers James T. Kirk, Montgomery Scott and Pavel Chekov are guests of honor aboard the newly christened Enterprise-B. A test run takes an unexpected turn, however, when the starship encounters two vessels trapped inside the Nexus, a mysterious energy ribbon. During a perilous rescue attempt, Kirk is swept out into space. Seven decades later, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of Enterprise-D rescue an El Aurian physicist named Soran. Unbeknownst to Picard, Soran harbors a deadly plan that includes the destruction of the Enterprise and millions of lives. Now Picard's only hope for a future rests within the Nexus...and a legendary captain from the past.

Ultimately the story had great ideas but I feel the scenes at the start of the enterprise be around necessarily be could’ve just explained what happenedAnd gave the next generation cast their own film.It was a lousy way to Kill Kirk both at the start of the film so you hated the film at the start and then kill him at the end so you hated him again. This movie should have been the first of a three parter what’s the second part being a movie adaptation of the novel and the written showing how the Borg were responsible for vger in motion picture and then do first contact

What a load of tripe this film is! This had much potential but it felt like it shopuld have been part of sreries 7. They should have waited for a couple of years after TNG finished instead this film is worse than the first one. Has anyone noticed that 2,4,6,8,10 are much better than the one's inbetween?

I quite liked this one cause it was quite funny. The Klingon females had too much of their boobs showing though. I wish Kirk didn't have to die but I suppose the other films wouldn't make much sense. His death was very clean. Not that much blood and the famous last words to. Pretty good but Star Trek V is way way better!!

It may not be the best in the series, but it is still epic. I love it, and it was a great way to kill Kirk, even though I feel he should have had more screen time.
  • Not the best but still good

Ok, so it's not the best Star Trek film ever but it's pretty good. Bit disappointed that there was no Spock cos he's awesome but whatever. Pretty good film but First Contact is definitely better.

Ok, not the best Star Trek film by far! The worst in my opinion is Star Trek V (not ‘Insurrection’) - by the way, Nimoy not appearing in ‘Generations’ has nothing at all to do with his opinion of the script; more to do with prior professional commitments actually, and not being offered enough money to make it worth his while!!! Over inflated expectations of salary are a well known part of the Star Trek Universe, particularly with regard to Nimoy and Shatner, the big stars! Killing Kirk off? Well, it was inevitably going to happen at some point! He does not have a Vulcan life span, nor is he immortal! Also, Shatner would not have allowed his character to be killed off if he was not happy with the way it was done, his big screen moment! By the way, Star Trek V was directed by Shatner who openly admits it was rather a flop! To be fair, they ran out of money and had to cut corners. Well documented this! ‘Generations' is a way better film, but no. VI ‘The Undiscovered Country’ is regarded by many, many fans as the best in the series so far. The prequels are way too recent to pass judgment in this regard. Time will tell! By the way, in ‘Generations’, Malcolm McDowell is brilliant, a great adversary for Kirk, on a level with Khan. Also, McDowell as a very experienced and respected actor, would not have taken this role on if he thought the film would be total rubbish! Patrick Stewart likewise. Both great theatrical actors actually. They had a reputation to uphold. Its not just about money! I base my judgments on a deep knowledge of Star Trek, developed since 1966 when I first watched it on TV. I have seen all the episodes and the films many times each. (Yes, all the series, apart from ‘Voyager’ and ‘Enterprise’, which, if I’m honest, I am not too keen on.)

Amazing that this isn't the worst Star Trek film, because Insurrection holds that record. This features a ridiculous plot, with science that a 10-year old would laugh at. It lumbers to a final fight where the director gets to kill off Kirk. Sacrilege! It's no wonder that Leonard Nimoy refused to apper in this pile of tripe.
  • Legendary film with legendary characters!!!!!
