Description

Clock back into the Clerks universe for writer-director Kevin Smith’s third entry of his iconic comedy series. Once again behind the counter of Quick Stop, Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson) are still hanging out with Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith), handling quirky customers, and sneaking off for rooftop hockey. But after Randal has a heart attack, he’s determined to make something of his slacker life — by shooting a movie about it! Featuring Rosario Dawson, a host of celebrity cameos, and Smith’s signature humor, Clerks III is a hilarious and nostalgic capstone to the Clerks legacy – nearly thirty years in the making.

If you have seen Clerks 1 and 2 and Jay & Silent Bob this is unquestionably a 5 star film. You’ll laugh and cry. If you haven’t, you won’t understand half the content and you’ll think it’s a 3 star film. A great film. A classic Kevin Smith film. A wonderful end to the superb Clerks trilogy.

Kevin Smith delivers once again. Great story and plenty of daft moments to laugh at throughout with the right blend of nostalgia.

Clerks III finds the characters from the original Clerks returning to the Quick Stop convenience store, the setting is familiar, although unlike the original the location is in colour. There is colour and texture in the the storyline too, the characters are older are they wiser though? There is the expected fast paced argumentative dialogue Smith writes so well injected with soul and emotion, with the characters having to deal with the reality that life does not always deal them a winning hand. The movie has plenty of fanboy moments with Jay and Silent Bob being incorporated into the proceedings hysterically at times, proving that underlying the foul mouthed delivery there is perfect comic timing in the acting too. New characters are introduced and several actors perform excellent cameos. Do not expect more of the same, Clerks III evolves the story, Smith does not simply trot out more of the same here, there is a maturity in approach and in some scenes are breath taking. Mr Smith knows how to keep fans engaged, surprised and moved by emotion. A movie that really does improve with more than one viewing, have seen it in a cinema and on a TV screen it is great to notice the tiny background details of some of the props used indicating that anyone who has worked in a convenience store will be familiar with the saying ‘Retail Is Detail’. Is the movie flawless? In places yes it is, if you love these characters you’ll be enthralled to see how they still develop and their story pans out.
