Description

Father Morris is a dissatisfied priest who has not been happy with his job for some time. After hearing another unremorseful and untruthful confession from a parishioner who is cheating on his wife, a quick-witted teenager, Amber, comes into his confessional and starts to turn Father Morris’s life upside down. Amber questions everything Father Morris stands for, and begins to get under his skin in a way that hasn’t happened before. Throughout the evening, interesting characters pass through Father Morris’s confessional as he reflects on what matters most in life and continues to quip with Amber, who slowly reveals why she came to confession.

Without giving out spoilers don’t be fooled by the bluntness of its beginning. The movie my start with a weak setting but the more you watch the more it unravels grabbing every bit of attention. Mixed with a plethora of emotions this movie was an absolute joy to watch.

This film has a delightful quirk to it that reminds me of a Wes Anderson movie. And much like a Wes Anderson movie it sucked me in with its charm before surprising me out of the blue with a really heartfelt message of losing your way, and second chances.
  • A film with the lot, drama, comedy and wit.

Our guide through this often comedic and dramatic look at confession is a charismatic and engaging priest, as he wrestles with his growing indifference to insincere parishioners seeking absolution from their often banal sins. However he soon finds his devotion tested by the outlook of a free spirited young woman, culminating in a surprising and satisfying end. Well acted, written and directed.
