The Predator

Spoiler Alert: The movie is very bad. First of all the kid is unable to function in social situations due to his condition but by the end of the movie he is a different character. It is almost as if the writers and director thought including a high functioning autism spectrum character would elevate the story, but then they forgot to do their research on the subject matter. I won’t even discuss the problems with the remaining characters; they don’t know each other. Why should they ‘band together’? I am glad this property is in the hands of Disney who have just produced a thrilling new instalment ‘Prey’. ‘Prey’ is a very intelligent and well thought through movie. ‘The predator’ is an embarrassment, a shambles from start to finish.

Yes it’s not believable and there’s holes in the plot, bad guys are cookie cutter bad guys, but otherwise I really enjoyed it, great action and good to add more to the Predator universe. The only one I haven’t enjoyed so far is Requiem.

As a parent to a child with Autism, phrases like ‘can you calm the psychosis’ when they were being chased by the Predator and when the kid gets bullied in the school…..pointless….it was hard to watch and spoilt the film for me. Story was a mess, CGI terrible. Missed opportunity to make a half decent film.

Most of the characters were literally throwing themselves to their deaths, seemingly for the fun of it. Soldiers killing each other for no reason whatsoever, and so blasé while doing it…. There was no tension because it was all dressed up for a cheap laugh. It was right about us being an endangered species though…. But that little message in an action comedy didn’t really work too well.

Save your money it’s bad, really bad. Pickup the original 87 classic, that movie never ages and is the gold standard of action sci-fi.

No story, terrible acting, awful effects. A complete waste of time and the worst ever Predator themed film. The trailer is incredibly misleading and hints at a film with suspense and excitement but the film it suggests is not present.

Okay so it’s not a great or even an instant classic but rather a playful and violent nod to the 80s version. It’s a bit over the top but this is a movie about an alien that can make itself invisible and is armed to the teeth. It’s better than the dreadful AvP movie and better than the so-so Predators. I’d say it’s better than Predator 2. Maybe even on par with Predator! 😱 I thought it was fun switch off movie.

Yet another disappointing entry in the Predator franchise. There's a few good moments of action and the alien's design is cool, but the plot is utterly nonsensical (with huge plot holes and a seriously ableist plot beat), the direction is terrible, and the characters are almost all completely unlikeable. Just go watch the original again, it's still as good as you remember.
