Description

Paul, who goes from the most infamous persecutor of Christians to Christ’s most influential apostle, spends his last days awaiting execution by Emperor Nero in Rome. Paul is under the watchful eye of Mauritius, Mamertine Prison’s ambitious prefect, who seeks to understand how this broken old man can pose such a threat. As Paul’s days grow shorter, he feverishly works from prison to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and embolden his followers to stand strong in their faith against Roman persecution far greater than has ever been seen.

If you’re expecting a sugary sweet story, look elsewhere. This is a punchy, gritty story about Paul and his last days in Rome.

The film depicts well what life must have been like in Nero’s Rome, including the suffering of those persecuted for their faith. Whilst true to much of Scripture, I was disappointed to see so little of the joy of the Lord and none of the supernatural power of God which is so evident in the Acts of the Apostles. There was nothing of the overcoming faith so evident in the War Room movie from the Kendrick brothers, also from Affirm Films.

This film will appeal to anyone with the slightest bit of interest in Christ and his Apostles. It's a well made, crafted film, with many highs and lows that will keep your attention until the very end. Not quite the same cinematic experience as Passion Of The Christ but equally as important.
  • Holy Spirit is working throughout the movie

I was watching the movie and when St Paul explaining to St Luke what love is quoting from the Sacred scripture, the very moment I started crying for no reason, it came involuntarily and there is nothing more I need to believe that Holy Spirit is working through this great Christian movie . It’s so touching and powerful when St Paul speaking to St Luke the word of God from the letters of St Paul.
