I nearly walked out of the cinema when I watched this movie as a late-teenager. Whilst the premise interested me, I thought it was boring and didn’t find myself routing for any of the characters. I was also disappointed that of all the worlds the Stargate could take us to, we ended up in a land of sand. More recently, I have revisited the film and found I kind of enjoyed it, albeit for being a retro slice of mid 90s sci-fi/adventure. All involved have worked on much better movies, but it’s a harmless enough way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. And Kurt Russell can do no wrong. Picture wise, MGM could really do with remastering this movie. Make it 4K and include the apparent Directors Cut - and maybe I’ll watch it again and absolutely love it!

Do not buy this version unless you have not seen this before. Even then I would advise you to seek out a 4K copy of the directors cut A great Sci Fi movie which I hold very dear, but a poor show from the Apple content managers to put this version here. Such a shame!

The film is the standard version and is a pity the directors cut is not here. The quality of this version is all over the place. Fuzzy, blurry, washed out and pixelly. Disappointed.
