Description

Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan returns with an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him - as well as everyone around him - as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

This film had me hooked from the get-go. James McAvoy is absolutely brilliant. The fact that McAvoy can play so many characters seamlessly say much for him. He is totally believable with his portrayal of each personality. Another M Night Shayamalan success. Keep them coming please.

No words can possibly do this justice. A movie as layered and stimulating as each of McAVOY’s ‘personalities’ An actor whom I already highly regarded, has been elevated even farther. The movie does not disappoint : Brilliant script Brilliant cast Brilliant Director And not forgetting a cameo from the Brilliant Bruce Willis!

  • I'm of one mind – this film is fantastic!

I suppose it makes sense that people are so 'divided' over this film. For me I'm definately of one mind – this film was utterly fantastic from start to finish. I was a bit shocked at how far they took the beast character – turning this into some sort of high-grade stealth werewolf movie, which total works for me. I need to go back and watch Unbreakable asap in time for 'Glass'. I can't belive it took me this long to watch this movie - but the plus side is it's sequel hits the cinema in two weeks! This director gets a lot of flack for misinterpretation of mental illnesses exetera – a little like how Jaws was a huge misinterpretation of the nature of sharks. And while it's true that these movies do heavily misinterpret, we should have learnt by now to know them for what they are – fantasy and entertainment. Also the Director is often critisized for having obvious twists – which is somewhat true, particularly, as we know, in Sixth Sense. But honestly did that stop it being enjoyable? – or a classic at that? Regarding Split however, as far as I can tell there is no twist of note at all, and if your expecting one then that's on you and not a fault of the movie. That was not what the direction was going for. The film is fairly straight forword and linear – but very captivating too. Anyway – it's a great movie and cudos to him for striving to give us something different, in a time when everyone just seems to want the next MCU fix.

James McAvoy is astonishing in his depiction of the main character. The characters were all believable and well acted and showed how they struggled against the two dominant and most disturbing Alta egos. The film is not particularly scary but it thrilling and fascinating as the film unfolds. Definitely worth a watch if nothing other than to see McAvoys incredible performance.

I really enjoyed this film - a lot! James McAvoy and Betty Buckley are both terrific in this film, very watchable from beginning to end. Watching the trailer I wasn't sure quite what to expect but it looked a little different so I was curious. It turned out to be totally my kind of film. Once the film started I was totally engrossed in it from start to finish.
