    I enjoyed this story even more than Band of Brothers as it really showed the full experience of the US Marines in the Pacific including the crazy juxtaposition of the home and war front. I really felt like I was in their shoes and thank all of them for their service.

    I understand why people are saying that some of the lead characters are not so easy to like, but I would say that this is because they are more like real people than in other depictions. Over time, despite or perhaps because of the ‘warts and all’ portrayals, we come to respect and care for them. They are flawed but brave; weak but generous; self-seeking and self-sacrificing. That’s what makes them human and worth caring about, and that is much better than some other well-intentioned but not so sophisticated series on war.

    It's weird because this series follows three guys whereas band of brothers was all over the place. But the difference is band of brothers became coherent and the pacific is actually the series that is all over the place. It doesn't have enough action and its hard to like the main characters. Something went wrong when this was written.
