    As good as, if not better than, The Wire & The Sopranos. Incredible characters combine with top drawer script writing to create a TV series that ranks as one of the best ever made. Idris Elba is superb as Luther. So different from his role in the wire. A lot of people will find it hard to believe he is not American after that role but he makes this thrilling detective role his own. 5 star.

    You would think that London would inspire a truck-load of decent crime dramas, unfortunately it doesn't. There's plenty out there - yes - but decent? Sadly not... That was until Neil Cross' Luther was adapted for our small screens and it has set the bar so high that big money US productions will have real trouble keeping up. Idris Elba has proven on many occasions that he has the acting chops to lead with panache and style, and in this gritty crime drama he not only does that, he owns prime-time with ease. This opening season will be hard to beat but hopefully that they make a good go of it... Excellent viewing.

    This is the best British tv series I have seen in years. Idris Elba is nothing short of compelling in the title role of Luther and the supporting cast hold their own fantastically. The writing is nothing short of genius. Purchase this and you won't regret it, unequivocally 5 stars.

    The series may well be great but purchased and downloaded Series 1 but episode 2 will not download!! Great!

    One of the best TV shows on the box right now, Its a shame series 2 is about to finish. I was recommended this by a friend and was amazed I had never heard of it, The show is a dark crime thriller with the lead character Luther being both addictive and interesting. You will want to know what happens next and what he is thinking. Great climax to the first series and some great individual crimes. Luther's dark relationship with Alice is a highlight of the series by far.
