Description

Care for the elderly is the least glamorous area of the medical service; the bit that gets swept under the carpet - an overload of grumpy, messy old people patched up only to return again a few months later. It's a tough world for staff too, and getting on means, well, getting on. Everyone is doing the best they can in a place where difficult choices are the order of the day. The staff on this ward joke as they go about their daily tasks, leaving humour and dignity to mix as it will.

Just wanted to add that iTunes has episodes 1 & 2 in the wrong order. Hilary introduces himself in episode 2 where as in episode 1 he talks to the nurses as if he already knows them. Fix it iTunes!

I watched this having read reviews in the UK press when it first came out. It is funny, sad, poignant, absurd but most of all it is really well written and acted. I watched all 3 episodes back-to-back and was searching for more but alas they only made three. Why ?. It reflects the absurdity of life in the NHS and our shocking treatment of the elderly and mentally infirm. Jo Brand is brilliant as she struggles as a nurse returning to the NHS after 12 years absence and the 'politically correct' nonsense and Government initiatives that infects modern Britain. It is a real joy to watch but don't expect a gag a minute or canned laughter. enjoy it for what it is : 'gallows humour'.....
  • Simply not funny...

I was expecting this to be brilliant... but it's simply not funny. It has too many truths to be in any way amusing, pls can we have comedy shows which show the best of life and not the worst of the NHS and claim it to funny. I was bored to tears... and saddened that someone, anyone would find it entertaining.

This was absolutley hilarious best show this year. Ive worked on a ward like this and it shows the kind of humour you have to have when working in a changing world of the NHS. * fantastic* a must have :)

This is one of the best written comedies of recent years- with an utterly wonderful cast. A lot of the comedy lies in the smallest details, and that alone makes 'Getting On' a true joy to watch. Buy it, and love it!!!
