  • Beautiful but would look better in 4K HDR

Blue Planet II is as beautiful as you’d imagine from a landmark BBC series and David Attenborough is, as always, riveting as host. However, this was filmed in 4K and even the BBC made it available on iPlayer in ultra HD so Apple really need to start upgrading their TV series as they have done with films. This and Planet Earth 2 deserve it.

Unbelievable seeing this in 4K on iPlayer but why is it not on iTunes in 4K? I’m sure a lot of people are waiting to purchase this when iTunes finally catch up...... 5 Star when it comes out

...it was recorded in 4K, it’s available in 4K on the BBC website... I won’t be buying it here until the 4K version is available.

Forget the moans about 4K whatever that is - listen and look and wonder at the skill, attention to detail, bravery and vision it took to make this series. And learn that if we don’t act soon you will be moaning about a great deal more than 4K

Each time the BBC produces a major series such as this, I am left wondering if it can ever be bettered but time after time they push the boundaries and Blue Planet II is no exception. Sublime camera work, wonderful stories, superb editing and of course the incomparable, accessible and charming narration of the master. A series that takes us on a wonderful journey portraying the lives of our fellow creatures as we might never have imagined them before and highlighting the frailty of our planet and the fragility of the of the ecosystems on which we all ultimately depend for our lives. Sad that the ratings have been undermined by a few petty minded bigots bickering over such mundane matters as what type of disc they have to purchase, ignore all that, download and be dazzled by the extraordinary beauty, diversity and richness of our Oceans.

I enjoy watching Blue Planet II, but I don’t find it as warm or engaging as Planet Earth II. I think 4K would be a great addition to iTunes.
