  • Well made but sexist and racial undertones

We are not stupid when watching these types of shows to see what subliminal stunt is being played throughout the series. References throughout of 'war of races', 'half-breed' referring to the elf/human hybrid, the 'mor' demon looks and sounds like an African warlord. Incidentally his shape shifting co-demon is a black woman. There's a utopia full of beautiful white people. Also a 'rover girl' part of a thieving human gypsy tribe who looks like a Roma gypsy. The whole scene is set up like a crusade battle between dark demonic hordes from some desert area coming to attack a castle like fortress in lush forest 'Elvin world' . The few ethnic looking characters on the 'good side' are an Arab looking 'Bandon' who turns evil in the end (who will be main villain in Series 2), and a pretty looking adulterous black female commander who has plays two brothers in an affair - she dies later. Also the underlying premise of the film? A mistake made when a woman who for the first time tries to compete in a race, usually by men for a high position to become a 'chosen one' and guard a tree of life, that supports their community which starts to die on her touch. If the director supports Trump and has some problem with immigration- use some other method instead of brainwashing film shows.
  • Dull and predictable

You can see every twist and turn of the story coming, and the acting is wooden. Extremely boring.

I read the books years ago, but glad I can't remember the story so I can enjoy this for what it is... not convinced by Austin Butler, but Manu Bennet (who I love in Arrow) is great!!!

I enjoy this epic story. No exaggerations with magic, beautiful landscapes, good action. 5 stars.
  • Pretty decent for a new tv show

Theres some pretty crap series around atm and this ISNT one of them its got pros and cons like every other show but for what it is its a great series storys progressing sometimes slow in episodes My only down point would be upto this point theres not much magic being shown Or taught like it should b to his apprentice its more diplomatic or story telling - but for someone whos read the books its nice to see they are making a effort and not bypassing everything for action packed episodes

In my view this series is fabulous! The CGI fits well and is exciting, the story is engrossing and acting standard is excellent. I truly hope the series is continued. Highly recommended.

It was promising. Music, special effects were great at the beginning but later, it went down..very down...
  • For the fans of the book, possibly OK

Done three episodes and it was sort of growing on me, but by the end of episode 3, Im with the demons. The heroes are irritating, villains predictable and irritating. The magical elements just seemed to be plucked out of thin air to suit the plot. It seems more to be another setting for teenage fantasy romantic fiction, Its a shame I was getting into the plot but in the end I’l just hang on for GOT, nothing here for me.
  • Great adult level entertainment in the fantasy genre
