Description

For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, or something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her teenage friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind.

  • The best Horror movie of 2010’s

An instant classic. If you love John Carpenter’s original Halloween, The Thing or Prince of Darkness; this is the horror movie for you. If you think this movie is ‘slow’ congrats you have no taste. Go rent ‘unfriended’ instead.

First few minutes are a major plot hole that make the rest of the film irrelevant. One to miss.
  • Good fun and original

It’s always difficult to be original when it comes to thrillers or horror movies. This film has a great theme and is worth more than one watch.

Great psychological horror. A great plot and a slow burn. It deserves its cult status. I loved it ! (If you’re reading this after you’ve seen it, and you liked it try “Thelma” I can’t understand the 1 star reviews, makes discussion more fun (well the ones who didn’t use the word boring anyhow 😴) I guess. It all depends what you like and what you expect, if you want mindless tortured & violence probably not for you - but you never know, sometimes it’s nice to have a psychological horror messing with you

This film just proves that you don’t need blood and guts to make it scary. Ok the acting is a little cheesy which make it funny and the fact that the chosen one sees what’s following them makes it even more scary. And not to forget the film and soundtrack has that retro look and sound to it which Makes it good.
  • Good concept but so many missed opportunities

Good concept but not really scary. So many missed opportunities where it could have been an awesome horror film. It's a low budget film so don't have high expectations.
  • So disappointing it angers me

My first ever review but, FYI I love movies and most of the times disagree with naysayers. But really, you should BUY this movie just to witness how unbearably bad it is. Pros: - Great concept (that's pretty much the only thing going for it) Cons: - Bizarre character portrayal or directing. Ending was a stupid plot to kill the monster (even the director says it). <= Applause for the director for being original. - Characters lack of intelligence up to a degree of 100%: It's not that their decision-making is especially bad, it's just that it's suboptimal to the point of despair. Character reactions are so bizarre and robotic (i.e oh look I'm being chased by a supernatural being that wants to kill me, NOPE it's not going to shock me metaphysically and make me question the reality of anything, just business as usual. I'm just going to treat it like it's a non-supernatural serial killer and am just going to drive away single tear crying silently in my car). - Director said that he wanted to detract from the typical horror genre by making the third act unusual. Oh my god, what a mistake. Monster is never explained, there is no lore, no substance to the movie, characters have no depth AT ALL. Nothing is explained. - If anyone wants to bring up John Carpenter, please give us break, I really do love stylized acting and directing, but not when it's butchered like this. Soundtrack was overwhelming and super aggravating. Once again, I'm an open-minded movie fanatic who loves cool concepts and typically agrees with nitpicky critics on horrorr movies, but it still does not save this unentertaining excuse of a movie.
