Description

Starring Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”) and Felicity Jones (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), this is the extraordinary story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (“Man on Wire”).

I didn’t get why this TV movie got such praise. It’s probably just me not been in the moment while watching it. But yeah whatever floats your boat....

This movie was absolutely brillant. The roles are played extremely well, and had to watch the whole way through. I now have a better insight into Hawking's life, and how he became to be who he is today. Very emotional at times. Thoroughly recommend.
  • BRILLIANT JUST WHAT STEPHEN HAWKINS WANTED

SHAME ON reviewer Johnie 1A and his put down & disgusting review. Just goes to show Johnie that you have No Idea about this film which is ALL ABOUT Stephen and his ILLNESS and how it affected his life but he was still able to be BRILLIANT and he was there at all the filming to make sure it was Real how life was for him, not his theories. So get your facts right before your derogatory.

I was misled by the raving reviews. This is a dull movie, slow, lacking emotional and intellectual depth. I learned nothing of substance about S.Hawking, and even though his life is inspiring, the movie definitely was not.

Between a mix of random science facts and trying to understand Hawking as he got older I didn't feel the film was sufficiently fluid. I read the book of the same title when it came out in the 90's and it was mind blowing. I just don't think the film best represented Hawking and his genius at all. Lazy popcorn film for the masses. That said Eddie Redmayne did an outstanding job with what he had to play with, including a shallow supporting cast.

I loved this movie, so good I watched it twice. The acting was superb. What a great sense of humour Stephen Hawkings has despite his disabilities. The only thing that spoiled it for me was when I Googled to see if he married his nurse.I learned that he did but was divorced again.

Informative and beguiling. Sympathy and empathy rise in you for the young Stephen and his loyal and incredibly supportive wife as they journey through the landmarks of his career and the life they share together. Truly wonderful in many ways.
