THIS IS NOT A COMEDY. The actors are very good, the content was boring. Got half way into the movie when we felt like doing something, anything else than watching this ********!?
  • BEWARE OF THE SWAMP!

It starts promisingly enough, but then plummets into a nearly unbearable swamp of self pity.
  • Its an excellent film (however its classified)

Some movies suit Kevin Costner. This is one of them. He, Maggie Smith, Kristin Scott Thomas and Dominque Piron (who comes across as a true Parisian) all portray their parts with true conviction giving us an intense emotional experience seasoned with Costner's dry humour which shields his character from huge life stresses. The classification I guess is more to do with the classical denomination of comedy or tragedy. The direction of Israel Horovitz brings Paris life to our doorstep. A nice little touch a la Hitchcock too!
  • Beautiful love story

Not a comedy, but a beautiful love story, dark in places but wonderfully written.
  • A great character film

I think to class this as a comedy is wrong, it's more of a drama with some dry comedy inserts. You get to know the 3 main characters in depth & from between the lines. Once you've gotten to know each one, their role within the story will change your perception of them. A well written story & very well chosen actors make this a surprisingly poignant film. For the more sensitive souls there may be the odd tear. Enjoy.
  • Not a comedy

Slow to start. Trailer is misleading. Bit of a grey film. Good acting. Wish I'd rented and not bought! Finished watching just to if the plot improved. It didn't.

Far too long for the storyline. Should have been an hour long television drama or radio play.
  • Gem of a movie thats slow to build

Great cast and performances. Observation on the intrinsic differences between european and american mores but witty and touching
  • Comedy?
