Description

Omar is accustomed to dodging surveillance bullets to cross the separation wall to visit his secret love Nadia. But occupied Palestine knows neither simple love nor clear-cut war. On the other side of the wall, the sensitive young baker Omar becomes a freedom fighter who must face painful choices about life and manhood. When Omar is captured after a deadly act of resistance, he falls into a cat-and-mouse game with the military police. Suspicion and betrayal jeopardise his long-time trust with accomplices and childhood friends Amjad and Tarek, Nadia’s militant brother. Omar’s feelings quickly become as torn apart as the Palestinian landscape. Oscar-nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, and winner of the Cannes Jury Prize Un Certain Regard.

This is an excellent film capturing the desperation and futility of the conflict in the Middle East and yet has a moving and excellent story line of love and betrayal. Brilliantly acted, and with presentation and editing which keeps you hooked throughout to the very last frame!
  • A lovely film

This is a focused, gripping film, set in a landscape we’re not used to seeing in cinema. I really enjoyed it.

A really excellent film which really shows how emotions, relationships and friendships can be torn apart by the occupation of your land.
