Just like the title iv given this review this movie gives amazing Twists on situations we wouldnโ€™t think would be knowing hell is Beneath our very feet knowing that the catacombs are a maze and knowing every turn is a mystery! I enjoyed this movie as it played with the concept of heaven and hell and the religious meaning around it. And the concepts around that! I loved how the world they knew twisted and turned on them and they had to learn and survive with what they had around them. I loved the idea how they became mirrored to what they knew. I loved the idea of fear playing a role in this! I wish there was more! This movie was incredible! While it had a slow start telling us the back story of the main character/characters some people may not enjoy the dragging with meeting the characters and all that. That isnโ€™t me though Iโ€™m trying to see it in a prospective of others who want to see the catacombs and the horror aspect. For me the start revealed a lot about Scarlett and what sheโ€™s doing which played a big role in the entire movie and I enjoyed every aspect especially when we find out who and what happened with the mysterious hanging body. Over all I loved this movie and I love the catacombs plus putting horror and the catacombs together is amazing concept which I would like to see more of!.

For the occult student, this film brings a frightening reminder of the very real physical risks that a pursuit into the unknown that any exploration into the depths of the psyche may bring about. There's a lot of dark symbolism that any spiritual westerners would understand -at least on a subconscious level. Open your third eye and enjoy.

Not sure about this (have watched it a few times) I like it cause it's underground (I love movies like The Descent etc) but the plot is very unsure of itself. Egyptian mythology in France!? Even the Knights Templar references are a bit odd.

  • Scariest film since The Ring

Although I love horrors, I'm not easily scared; as a reference, The Paranormal Activity Saga didn't touch the sides for me, As Above So Below, is a different kettle of fish. I hadn't been this tense/uncomfortable/petrified/adrenaline fuelled by a film, since the Ring, before that, The Omen and before that The Haunting, (original). It took my flatmate and I a few hours to calm down and chill out afterwards, seriously amazing. I'm not sure I ever want to see it again, but it was incredible for at least once.

Awful. 93 minutes of shaky cam... ๐Ÿ˜‘

This film is smarter than expected and visually striking, a slow build into a somewhat uncomfortable horror that manages to sustain the sense of unease throughout. A few good jump scares, clever use of phobia and a solid story. Only downfall is the 'clone' of Lara Croft and the slightly weak ending; almost as if the plot confused itself for being a bit too clever.

Interesting and great to watch your friends get terrified at :') I don't get scared by these films - but it was still worth watching - love it. Interesting direction to the story line - in a good way.
