Description

When British Railways announce the closure of the Titfield to Mallingford branch line, a group of local village residents make a bid to run it themselves, backed by a monied member of the community who is attracted by the complete lack of licensing hours on trains. Unfortunately this puts them into direct competition with the local bus company.

If you only ever buy one Ealing comedy, get this one. It almost brings tears to the eyes for the England we once had. Superb cast of character actors, beautiful photography and razor like wit. But it, you wont regret it.

One of my favourite films from my childhood. Being a railway lover, the story resonates with me. A much beloved Branch Line that's under threat of closure (as was what happened to too many stations & Branch Lines back in the day), with a team of volunteers & enthusiasts determined to keep the trains moving, regardless of the odds. Full of charm, wit, a great cast & direction and marvellous cinematography, The Titfield Thunderbolt is a true delight. One that's given a great release on iTunes.
