John Carpenter's classic 1980 horror THE FOG has been stunningly restored in 4k. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, THE FOG is an incredibly atmospheric and effective ghost story confirming John Carpenter as a master of terror. Antonio Bay, California has turned a hundred years old and getting ready to celebrate its centennial year. But as the residents of the small, quaint harbour town begin to prepare for the festivities a mysterious cloud of fog appears upon the shore and begins to make its way across town leaving a trail of horrifying slaughter until the deathly, dark secrets of Antonio Bay's blood-soaked history is finally revealed.

It’s actually a lot shorter than I remembered and around 1hr 30. It’s grainy but that’s fine. It’s sharp in has the usual shiny surfaces like in the cars. The fog and titles for example glow and flicker. Not bad and worth a watch film 7/10 4K 6/10

Marred by only have a stereo soundtrack. The 4K blu ray has DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Least we should have it’s Dolby 5.1.

Where are the all the extras that you get on the retail disc version? Poor show again iTunes. Five stars for a great golden oldie from my childhood though.

A composed and patient film. Which is in moments measured, tense and suspenseful and yet has a jaunty run run time. Some masterful direction that is reminiscent, to me, of Spielberg at times. I have always found this film creepy. Unjustly not as held in as high esteem as it should. Well recommended.

Stripped down music, Adrienne Barbeau’s greatest performance and considered, tangible plot that builds the eeriness and menace to the climax. Excellent, understated performances all round from the cast. Brrrrrrravo, JC.

Very atmospheric. I keep coming back to this film when I happen to be on my own, on a rainy Sunday afternoon, with a nice cup of cocoa and a blanket, and an eerie desire to get spooked out...
