Description

An alien entity inhabits the earthly form of a seductive young woman who combs the Scottish highways in search of the human prey it is here to plunder. It lures its isolated and forsaken male victims into an otherworldly dimension where they are stripped and consumed. But life in all its complexity starts to change the alien. It begins to see itself as ‘she’, as human, with tragic and terrifying consequences. UNDER THE SKIN is about seeing ourselves through alien eyes. UNDER THE SKIN, starring Scarlett Johansson, is Jonathan Glazer’s critically-acclaimed third feature after Sexy Beast and Birth.

  • Another example of a film excessively overrated in iTunes by its promoters

One of the worst films I have ever watched. Almost no story, no purpose, no reason behind this film. And was this an Editor's choice. It says a lot about the very poor quality of films offered by iTunes generally. Time to get a new editor in my opinion. Apple should rethink their whole program. A very poor choice of films on offer. Films offered here are often overpriced with exaggerated and biased reviews.
  • Virtually unwatchable!

I wanted to give up after 20 minutes and forced myself to persist until 43 minutes when I finally gave in and switched it off! Spend your money on something else, honestly!

A feast for the senses. Dont worry about hidden meanings, allegorical challenges or all the other bits people say about this film; it's a modern gem. Captivating like little else, touching at times, scary at others. There's a really abrasive realism that runs through a lot of the movie, and whilst it may not follow classic film theory, it's as important a watch as pretty much anything. Soundtrack 10/10 Visuals 10/10 Characterisation 10/10 Spirit 10/10

Very Very Slow and doesn’t get any better than sorry
  • I'd rather peel my skin off and roll around in salt than watch this dross again

A self indulgent, pretentious, vanity project. Terrible in every way conceivable. It's about as artistic as an "experimental piece" made by a right on, substandard polytechnic student. Only the truly vacuous and self important would pretend to find meaning in this drivel.
  • LOVE OR HATE

This film is more of a work of art than your generic walk in the park. Its deeply distressing, cinematic, daring and dark. Scarlet Johansen really comes out of her comfort zone to portray this quiet but complex character. Cinematographers will love it, but general public may find this a bit eerie. Therefore you will either LOVE IT OR HATE IT.

I have no idea what's going on. It's nicely shot, well acted and the dialogue is interesting. But I have no idea what's going on. I could write it off as pretentious arthouse twaddle, but I think it might be trying to be more. I'm frustrated that with an IQ in the top 2% I can't appreciate it. For the minute or so Scarlett Johansson is without clothes, she is sublime. A true goddess, and the rest of the time she puts in a fine performance. A performance of what, I am unsure. Ultimately it left me confused for 107 minutes and aroused for 1!
  • Better as a short movie?

Some good points but this should surely have been a short film? Say 30 to 40 mins would have sufficed. Yawn
  • Unsettling excellence

The unsettling Beach family notwithstanding- the film is great and clever looking through an Alien changing in another world. Bravo Mr Glazer and all. It will take me a while before I view it again however...
  • Nothing like the book

What a shame. The original book is excellent but the story in the film is so completely different and bears almost no resemblance to the story at all.
