Fellini is unanimously named by film critics and filmmakers as one of the greatest directors of all time and his 8 1/2 is considered a masterpiece and one of the most important films ever made. It won two Oscars including Best Foreign Film. A film director (a magnificent Marcello Mastroianni) is struggling to find the creativity required to deliver his next movie and consequently is being harassed by his producers, colleagues as well as his wife (Anouk Aimée) and his mistress (Sandra Milo). In order to escape his tormentors, the director retreats in dreamy recollections of his life and lovers, until fantasy and reality merge in the director's mind - and on the screen - in a dazzling spectacle ending in a triumph of optimism.
