Christopher Wheeldon recreates the enchanting story of Cinderella, using the famed score by Prokofiev. In this version, which is based on the original tale collected by the Brothers Grimm, there is no pumpkin and no glass slipper. Instead, the tears shed by Cinderella over the loss of her mother nourish a magical tree, which, along with four sprites, assists Cinderella on her arrival at the ball. Winner of the prestigious Benois de la Danse for best new choreography in 2013, Cinderella also features the ballet debut of Drama Desk Award-winning designer Julian Crouch, who is well known for his designs for the Philip Glass masterwork Satyagraha and the Broadway musical "The Addams Family". Together, Crouch and Wheeldon take Cinderella on cinematographic approach that transforms classic fairytale into a 21st Century masterpiece.
