Movie rating if it is your thing ***** BUT this review is for ITUNES who sees fit to charge £13.99 for this movie, YET you can view it on googleplay for £2.49!!! I love Apple but have to agree with my son the next generation who feel that Apple is dayllight robbery!

4K (like all of the Disney/MCU films on iTunes). Would give it 5 stars otherwise.

This is such a good film on so many levels. Tony is perfect in this film. They truly made him an epic superhero. Here’s the story. Tony is suffering from PTSD from the events of The Avengers. Meanwhile, a terrorist threat has harmed the lives of his loved ones. Tony goes on a mission to learn who the terrorist is and uncover the truth behind this plot. First things first, HOOOOLLLLYYYY CRAP!!! is Tony portrayed so well. I think this film perfectly summed up Tony: while he has billions of dollars and a hi-tech suit of armour that makes him practically an American icon, he’s still human. And like every human, he has his strengths and his weaknesses. This film perfecty showed those weaknesses in his fear of losing Pepper. And it perfectly showed his strengths with the idea that he is “the mechanic”. Overall, A+ performance from RDJ as Tony. Secondly, it shows Iron Man without his tools and his tech. It shows him having to survive on his wit and his will. Overall, I liked this film and thought it was a great change of pace, by showing the darker side of Tony more than his lighter side. This makes him more compelling and a better character. Marvel doesn’t really make stories like Iron Man 3. In my opinion, they should.
  • A great action comic book film, yet a bit underwhelming.

Seeing Tony Stark trying to cope with life after The Avengers was interesting. Robert Downing JR okayed Stark’s inner turmoil very well. Visuals and music are awesome as always, however, this film is the only film in the entire MCU that felt like filler. Honestly, you could just skip this film and not miss a thing. It almost feels disconnected from the MCU as a whole. That, in a way is a good thing and bad. I do like seeing a different MCU film that isn’t the same, but it felt wayyy out of this universe that it seemed like a filler arc in an anime. Overall, a decent film. Yea, that’s about it, decent.

Despite becoming the highest grossing standalone Marvel movie and being the only one to earn over a billion at the box office, for me, the film failed to live up to the expectations. The trailers building up to the release of this film in summer 2013 basically teased us with Tony Stark taking on fan favourite enemy, Mandarin, but what we got instead was Ben Kingsley as an alcoholic washed up actor with a cockney accent. It was a twist a few saw coming, but left many fans such as myself pretty disappointed.
