Description

Filmed from the perspective of a Palestinian farm labourer (Emad Burnat), 5 Broken Cameras was shot using six different video cameras – five of which were destroyed in the process of documenting Emad’s family life, as well as the Palestinian and International resistance to Israeli appropriation and occupation of land. Emad, who lives in Bil'in, just west of the city of Ramallah in the West Bank, was thrust into global politics when his community peacefully resisted Israeli plans to erect a wall through their land to separate them from the ever growing Israeli settlements. Initially given the camera to chronicle the birth and childhood of his son Gibreel, the film captures Gibreel growing into a precocious preschooler against the backdrop of the many non-violent protests that have become an intrinsic part of life in Bil'in.

What an incredible film. It shows how the Palestinian people are dealing with the terrible treatment by the Israeli soldiers. It really opens your eyes and allows you to see how we are so massively controlled by the media, and shows the real lives of the Palestinians that are so called 'terrorists' who are heavily armed with their banners and flags, and how they 'attack' the heroic soldiers who fire at the 'terrorist' children
  • Profound and moving account.

Never have I saw a first hand account of the brutality and blatant oppression of the Israeli army. This is an excellent film, no pretentious commentary, just basic and honest. Heartbreaking to watch such an awful situation and what the Palestinians have to endure.

Sad and heartbreaking story of a village that decided not to bow down to occupation - the same story happens nearly in all Palestinian villages. By by Palestine.

A raw and uncompromising report on how peaceful resistance meets Israeli military power in Palestine. Incredibly moving but the warmth of the Palestinians involved, especially the children is also uplifting. I am definitely not anti-semitic, but by the end of this film I felt truly disgusted by the Israeli treatment of Palestinians of all ages. Watch it and make your own mind up.
