Description

Celebrated photographer Don McCullin worked for The Sunday Times from 1966 to 1983, at a time when the newspaper was widely recognised as being at the cutting edge of international investigative photo-journalism. During that period he covered wars and humanitarian disasters on virtually every continent: from civil war in Cyprus, the war in Vietnam and the man-made famine in Biafra to the plight of the homeless in swinging sixties London. This new documentary from the producers of the award-winning SENNA uses rich, detailed archive footage and incredible in-depth interviews to reveal the truth behind McCullin’s hard-hitting and controversial images, piecing together his remarkable story in truly breathtaking style.

An outstanding portrayal of the work of superb photographer and compassionate man Don McCullin. A real tribute to him. Also to his friend Harold Evans. So moving that it reminded me that I need to do more to fight against injustices in the world and fight for peace. Thank you Don and Harold.

This is my first ever review of an itunes movie. The narrative and pictures kept me gripped throughout and anyone with an interest of modern history is likely to be impressed by this piece of work. It left me wanting to check further information on some of the episodes McCullin covered. Outstanding!

An excellent portrayal of a true photojournalist. Don McCullin is the example to all who follow in the profession that, even in today’s 24/7 news world, they have a responsibility to morally capture the essence of humanity, it’s actions and consequences to ensure the world is truly informed.

A haunting, powerful, incredibly moving film that reminds us of the horrors of war, and how thankful we should be for those who are brave enough to seek out and present the truth to us. What an incredible human being Don McCullin is.

This should be compulsory viewing in schools for teenage children. Lessons on so many levels. A great artist of our time.

had to watch this in three half-hour chunks because I found it too intense to absorb in one go. I've also read McCullin's autobiography and seen his exhibition. How he ever made it out alive and sane I'll never know. Compelling and insightful stuff.
