Roger Moore’s first performance as 007 is arguably his best. For once, the villain, an intimidating Yaphet Kotto, isn’t trying to destroy the world and the accompanying 70’s blaxploitation backdrop gives the movie a unique edge. Paul McCartney & Wings provide possibly the franchises best title song, which then perfectly reprises throughout the movie thanks to George Martin’s fantastic score. The rest of the adventure includes voodoo spells, speedboats, crocodile parkour and clawed henchmen, which help keep the thrills right up there with the best of Moore’s tenure.

You can buy a collection of the blu rays for about £50 (minus Spectre). Old reviews from the collection previously listed on the Apple Store suggest they used sell this for roughly the same price but then doubled it. Now they no longer offer the collection and want roughly £9 for each film!!!!! I have no idea what the distribution company is playing at but this pricing is absolutely insane and is stopping me from purchasing these films. Avoid until the price drops or just buy the hard copy.

A cracking debut for Moore. Considering the time, it was bold for Bond to cross into racial territory. The basic plot is a lot like Goldfinger, in which you think you can guess the villains aims but then they turn out to be totally the opposite. For non fans and Bond fans alike, the theme tune is the best of the whole series by far. George Martin also gives this one of the best scores to date - as with the following Barry scores (excluding TLD) they seem to be very basic and similar. The crocodile jump is of course the highlight in this film, but if you hate snakes then I’d give it a miss or watch with care.
