Description

The director and writer/star of Forgetting Sarah Marshall reteam for the irreverent comedy The Five-Year Engagement. Beginning where most romantic comedies end, the new film from director Nicholas Stoller, producer Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Rodney Rothman (Get Him to the Greek) looks at what happens when an engaged couple, Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, keeps getting tripped up on the long walk down the aisle. The film was written by Segel and Stoller.

The fact that this film features two Van Morrison tracks makes it automatically a winner. However, I also must add that the comedy itself is clever and there are some genuine laugh-out-loud moments. The cast, the plot and the soundtrack is great - make sure you see this one!

I love Emily Blunt but this is a boring, slow moving film and a waste of time and money.

I usually like the movies with bad reviews..i'm not that fussy. but this movie was nothing special..it was pretty boring, didn't have very good characters/storyline. it's one of those movies where you watch the advert, and think wow that looks hilarious, then you watch the movie and realize there was only a couple of funny parts.. all of which were shown in the advert.. good for if you want something simple to follow.

This is just disappointing , I thought it was going to be amazing from the trailer so I bought it , but what a waste of money . If you really want to watch it I would definitely suggest renting it as opposed to buying it.

Emily Blunt is great with some brilliant one liners. But she's let down by a poorly cast co-star. And the great one liners are not enough to save it. It's predictable and disappointing even for a chick flick. Best rent something else

Great potential but just doesn't cut it, a depressingly poorly carried out film.
  • At best.... a wobbly 2 star

This film is pretty terrible and it's a real shame as there are some great people involved. Gags appear desperate time and time again, which left me feeling a little embarrassed for the actors. The script is so badly lacking, scenes are aloud to play out until the character has no alternative but to fall over. It's this tiring format which keeps the movie so loose, you feel like you're watching for an eternity. Is this the finished edit? It's ludicrous! Anyway after these labouring unbelievable slap stick moments have happened countless times, it will struggle to raise even a smile and you'll quickly become aware that you are wasting a massive amount of time on it. Many of the people involved in this film are great talents, so it's difficult to know what's gone so wrong here. It's no 'Bridesmaids' that's to sure. Oh well......
  • Very good indeed

We cried. We laughed...and we cried and laughed some more. A perfect film to watch with the love of your life.
