Description

Loud music. Pornography. Lighting fires. These are a few of Hesher’s favourite things. And they are what Hesher (Joseph Gordon- Levitt) brings into the lives of TJ (Devin Brochu) and his father Paul (Rainn Wilson) when he takes up residence in the garage uninvited. Grief stricken by the loss of TJ’s mother, Paul can’t muster the strength to evict the strange squatter and soon the long-haired, tattooed Hesher becomes a fixture in the household. Like a force of nature, Hesher’s anarchy shakes the family out of their grief and helps them embrace life once more.

    I'm still raving about this film, a week later, having watched it twice, over one weekend ! Don't watch with youngsters. Absolutely brilliant, all praise to a great directing and beautiful measured acting.

    I was surprised and moved by this very touching film. I shall certainly watch it again sometime. I've now added it to my list of favourite films for those rainy days when I just want to lock the door, close the curtains and loose myself in another world. Memorable.

    A family taken to to breaking point and not just pushed, but thrown, somersaulting. I'd love to say Hesher was an over-the-top character, but I've known some that came too close. Great acting, great direction, great story.

    Amazing, acting is so good especially the wee boy TJ, but takes a while to get into, first half hour pretty boring but totally worth it, so sad will bring a tear if recently lost someone, one to watch!!!

    Not as corny as the blurb implies - heartwarming and funny but in a very different way. Expect to be surprised. Great cast (with the exception of Portman who is never convincing as far as I'm concerned) and engrossing story with perfect pace. Excellent. Will definitely be purchasing a hard copy.

    Incredible film, I had no idea what to expect but I think this is the best film I have seen in 2011 and so far 2012, awesome acting, touching and funny. It's very underrated maybe because its an indie film? I dont know why but I know it should get way more attention than it has.
