Eat Pray Love

so, this is story of an american woman who has had too many boyfriends,too much money, and lives a confortable life. so, what is their rich girl going to do to kill her boredom…. travel of course. life is tough for rich vain people. I am going to shed a tear now (not). this movie is neither deep nor meaningful.

Eat, Pray, Love? Vomit!

I read the book not long before watching the movie and I'm pretty disappointed. I knew it would be hard to make a film out of a book that is a rare combination of introspective rumination and chattiness, but that's no exuse for the filmmakers to have dispensed with almost every element that makes it such a rich story. The most glaring omission is the interesting back stories of the people who Liz befriends along the way. Even in the rare moments when the film's writers include a back story, they either make one up or embellish it beyond all recognition. Worst of all, the character of Liz herself - the focus of every scene - doesn't appear to have any of the wit, friendliness, gutsiness or intelligence that comes across in the book, and is instead portrayed throughout the whole film as miserable, taciturn, timid, and totally lacking in charisma, and she doesn't appear to leave the ashram - or even the movie - more enlightened than she started. On a positive note, the cinematography and settings are beautiful, Javier Bardem is great, and her divorce is handled well (and is in fact the only part of the movie I found meaningful or emotionall resonant).

What a very bad film this is. I needed a bucket most of the time while watching this drivel. I gave it one star for the Italian scenes.

I found this film very inspiring- it gave me the get-up-and-go I've been looking for in order to do something with my life.

This is a truly dreadful film and the only thing that stopped me leaving the conema was the fact that someone else paid for the tickets. There's nothing wrong with the acting or the cinematography but Julia Robert's character is self-obsessed, shallow, immature and hugely irritating. Her whole story felt very contrived and it was rather stilted; not so much an inspiring journey about finding yourself but more the whingeing of a pretentious, narcissistic woman who just needed to grow up. There are much better films out there if you're looking for something uplifting or inspiring.

I don't turn off many films but this was one. Meandering, loose plot, unlike able characters. One to avoid.

Best film I have seen in years

it's not worth it.

I can't believe I wasted £10 on this !!! It looked so promising but was completely empty of true emotion and was dull, I kept waiting for something spiritual or something entertaining to happen. Having had a true spiritual awakening many years ago and been meditating for 8 years, had kundalini awakening 5 years ago I thought this movie was going to be along those lines and be profound. I was sadly wrong. Save your £10 and by a meditation app or CD.
