Description

The outstanding debut from Gerard Johnson, Tony has been compared to classics Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and Taxi Driver and is one of the most important and disturbing British films of recent years. Unemployed and unemployable, Tony is a sympathetic recluse with severe social problems, an addiction to VHS action films and a horrible moustache. Occasionally he snaps and murder is the result... Featuring a star-making lead performance from Peter Ferdinando, Tony is dark, brutal and bleakly amusing and will stay with you long after you finish watching.

Very dull. I wouldnt like the idea of a invite to Tonys. The ending was outrageous.

This man does not really want to kill people, but when he does, he does it well. The poor bloke just wants to fit in, but the extremities of society he endeavours to inhabit we're never likely to accept a middle aged loner like Tony, but he tries and people just end up dead along the way.

They don't come much bleaker than this film, but don't let that put you off. It's a brilliantly realised film that's full of humour as much as it's full of grim everyday drudgery! This film feels very real, and the protagonist could be anyone you've ever met in a queue, or in a shop or on the bus. You know the one, smells a bit, unwashed, doesn't understand you want to be left alone. Yep, they're everywhere, and probably a serial killer ;) Very well acted, and what little dialogue there is is dead pan and authentic. The pace of the film is slow, but this can be viewed as a metaphor for the dreary life Tony leads. Fantastic :)

That movie was absolute rubbish there was no real story it was just a freak just killing people because he's weird it was just terrible. You just stare at the screen waiting for something good to happen and then it ends

Throughout the film I couldn't help think, who made this ? I had an image of a team of Nathan Barley types, given the locations, and I found this more disturbing than the film itself.. The film is what all the other viewers have mentioned but there is little depth and there is actually no ending whatsoever - neither good nor bad - just - Nothing, which is disappointing. However, this film is definitely well worth a watch and it is different.
  • Good disturbing film
