Description

Two astronauts (Dennis Quaid, Vantage Point and Ben Foster, 30 Days of Night) awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the ship. They can’t remember anything like who they are and what their mission is, but one thing they do realise very quickly is that they are not alone. Slowly the spacecraft’s shocking, deadly secrets are revealed and the astronauts find that they must fight to stay alive and that their survival is more important than they could ever have imagined. Directed by Christian Alvart and also starring Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Cung Le (Tekken) and newcomer Antje Traue.

I watched this film on Netflix after a friend had recommended it to me. I loved it, there's so much going on and so many things to listen too. It has great action and is more realistic than other films like this that I have watched. Recently I wanted to watch it again but Netflix doesn't have it anymore so I thought i'd buy it (thats how good it is) so I can watch it whenever I want now!

Pay no attention to the neigh sayers of the film critic world. This is one hell of a horror sci-fi that will literally play with your mind. If you loved Event Horizon and in dire need of another hellish experience watch this and you'll quiet at home. Those with headphone listening I urge you to crank that volume up to feel the full effect of Pandorum.

This is a dogs dinner of a movie. Not only is it a predictable and tired story, it keeps forgetting its own plot and when it gets lost, it reverts to old star trek stories. It's grim, relentless and very very slow. I wish I'd watched it at twice the speed - I wouldn't have missed anything and would have wasted only half the time I spent on it. Don't bother.
  • In spite of Quaid, this is still a good movie

Quaid's scenes are dreadful. The rest of the film is rather good though

Seen this a while ago but feel compelled to put my two cents in. Firstly, anyone who says they didn't like this or they were expecting something else are either new to SF or admirers of the Michael Bay school of over-the-top effects and to hell with the story school of film-making. If you are familiar with the genre and the depth of it, you will absolutely love this. Totally gripping from beginning to end with a beautifully crafted script and excellent acting. Top-tier traditional effects using lighting, clever camera work, and excellent creature make-up and so on proves, yet again, that film-making is an actual art and not the sum total of a studio's CGI budget. Terrifying in most parts with enough twist and turns that surprised even a veteran of horror and sci-fi like me. Overall, a very intelligent, very, very different take on what are rarely balanced in the hands of less experienced directors. Why this got panned by the critics remains the single most stupefying thing to me in all my long years of watching them get it wrong so often. All I can assume is that it's so different (and by different I mean an advancement on the genre) that they didn't know what to make of it. I hope to hell the producers get the chance to make a sequel. Both this and (the almost similar) Cargo seem to indicate that Germany may very well be the new home of sci-fi and what an interesting home it may prove to be. Beyond highly recommended. Photography and suspense similar to Alien, deep-space horror along the lines of (and better than) Event Horizon, and a hefty dollop of European existensialist angst = somewhere in my all-time Top 20. Miss it and you lose big time.
  • Same Old Sci-fi Thriller

With a twist that was predictable from almost the beginning. It is not a great film.
