I saw the English version. I haven't seen another film like it. Unique story, and amazing characters, acting, scenery and music. Definitely one to buy - you'll watch it more than once, I guarantee.
  • BE WARNED !! - English sub titles.

It makes me wonder if any of the previous reviews actually downloaded this. A beautiful movie, originally made in English but now released with a dubbed French soundtrack and English subtitles. Come on iTunes....... Nearly three hours having to read subtitles on my iPhone screen........ My eyes will be bleeding after that...... My refund request will be forthcoming. A fabulous film ruined.

The trailer for this film is hilarious, anyone would think they are going to be watching Jaws having seen it. It is a great film and inspired by Luc Besson's true love... the sea. He had an accident which prevented him from diving again and whilst recovering he watched film after film and this turned him in the direction he eventually took. The big blue is the film he always wanted to make and it is amazing. For anyone that loves the water and diving it is a must see.

. . . who needs space, when you have the sea. This download is a present for my son, the first film I'd like him to see.

The movie is quite life inspiring and gives us all hope, on top of this you cannot take your eyes off the screen - visially it could not have been better, it is so, so beatiful, it would make you wanting becoming a dolphin yourself! This is the happy part... The sad part - it is really a pitty that having done this and Leon Luc is now writing and producing only commercial movies, once he had a dream of having enough money to make The Big Blue and now that he has the money he only needs more money and the dream is lost in the pile of dollars... Sad indeed
  • Don't judge a film by it's trailer.

Both the (erroneous) American and (obscure) European trailers have very little to do with this beautiful classic of late 80's French cinema. How hot is he?! How heartbreaking is she?! iTunes should have a rent option, then I'd say DO IT!!
  • A totally amazing film that has influenced my life!

First saw this film some 15 years ago and I love it now as much as the first time. Must have seen it 100 times since :-) This fime won the Cannes Film Festival in 1988. Jean-Marc Barr is a serious distraction! Beautifully filmed and so atmospheric as is the soundtrack. This is the film that made me overcome my fear of water and learn to dive as I too wanted to see what was down there in the depths of the blue. This fims touches something inside of you! Lots of gorgeous dolphin dream sequences that are stunning. Don't take my word for it, see it for yourself!

One of my favourite films of all time, must say that the original version is better than the directors cut, but this film is a must see
