Description

A taut action film, an epic chase and primal battle set in the breathtaking landscape of the West. The civil war has ended but Colonel Morsman Carver (Liam Neeson) is on one final mission: to kill Gideon (Pierce Brosnan) no matter what it takes. Launched by a gunshot and propelled by rage, the relentless pursuit takes them both far from the comforts and codes of civilisation, into the bloodiest recesses of their own soul.

I liked the movie until the last 15 minutes where the ending let it down. It looked like they simply decided how can we end this, oh I know let’s introduce a random unbelievable character who will influence the whole movie in the last 10 minutes. Great scenic cinematography and actually good acting from the main characters. It was an enjoyable if not a memorable movie.

an excellent film with a twist near the end but a poor finish left open good adventure type thriller, a little bloodthirsty for some a cowboy type film but more modern than usual
  • Decent western

Not a bad film but prone to a little dreariness at times, the rather good start peters out fairly swiftly and the plodding aspect of the film takes over. Pierce chews his way through his scenes with his usual overacting and Neeson doesn't do much better, but for all that they're likable enough screen presences - you get the feeling they wanted to make a classic.. The suspense is a little lacking and the narrative drive is a bit of a letdown - particularly when you find out the event that precipitated the whole event. Still, worth a viewing though especially for 2.49, but certainly - you'd be better off watching the much better '3.10 to Yuma'; the excellent Bale & Crowe western from around the same time.
