Description

A frantic call for help from a remote research station on Mars sends a team of mercenary Marines into action. Led by The Rock and Karl Urban, they descend into the Olduvai Research Station, where they find a legion of nightmarish creatures, lurking in the darkness, killing at will. Once there, the Marines must use an arsenal of firepower to carry out their mission: nothing gets out alive. Based on the hugely popular video game, Doom is an explosive action-packed thrill ride!

Lasted 40 mins then gave up. Poor plot and being generous perhaps just not my thing.

I bought this with an acknowledge that it's closed captioned but once I watched there were no showing. I am disappointed cos paid £9.99 for that with an expectation of the subtitles. Deeply disappointed. :-(

I was expecting, as with all remakes, one of those cash-in films that are usually based on video games. Having played Doom 1 & the iPod release I can see why some fans will be disapointed by the twisted storyline. It's nothing to do with hell let's just say. It isn't too scary but there seems to be this tense feeling through most of the film & I particularly enjoyed the FPS sequence which in most peoples case the highlight of it all. It's a good watch, I think.

Before I watched this film I was skeptical that this was going to be another awful rip on a classic game, like the resident evil films. However, I was actually pleasantly surprised as this film is very good. There are some nice plot twists and Karl Urban is fantasic. Also the director took advantge of Doom's trademark first person style to create a very effective piece that veterans of the game will hopefully crack a smile at. All in all this is a very good film that doesn't over use the horror and gore aspects which many of these films do, but actually draws a reasonably savoury border and focuses more on creating fear by what you can't see rather than what some grotesque salivating creature has just done to a marine.
