Description

When Leon Kaufman's (Bradley Cooper) latest body of work – a collection of provocative, nighttime studies of the city and its inhabitants -- earns the struggling photographer interest from prominent art gallerist Susan Hoff (Brooke Shields), she propels him to get grittier and show the darker side of humanity for his upcoming debut at her downtown art space. Believing he’s finally on track for success, Leon's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer, Mahogany (Vinnie Jones), the subway murderer who stalks late-night commuters.

I'm not really aware of the books or legacy that everyone is talking about so I was left thinking...'What?' Big fan of Japanese horror but the combination in this film didn't seem right. As a stand alone film the ending was totally rushed and it had me shouting at the screen a little more than normal. I get common sense needs to be warped to extend the plot of a film but I was ready to board the train myself either to kill all the characters or get killed myself (win, win). Like i said at the start, glad i rented it.

I watched this for two reasons, I love horror AND Vinnie Jones! I loved this film! I knew from the start that the ending was gonna be like so many before but the execution of this film made me very happy. I rented & wished I had bought this.. Thinking of watching it again!

I personally thought the film was quite good. Not the best but watchable. A few funny parts and overall story not bad.
  • Not often I need time out on a horror

Did not see this one coming at all. Thought Hostel was sick and gory. This was just too much for one take. Basically, if you want a film off the scale for sick twisted brutal gore and a lot of on-your-edge suspense then this will do it. Just make sure you are ready for it - I wasn't..!! Phew, time to watch the weather channel for a bit...

This film is atrocious, it's blood for bloods sake. There is no beginning, middle or end - which in my book is generally a recipe for a good story or film. It goes absolutely nowhere & you don't feel anything for any of the characters so it makes for a dull sloooooow boring bloodfest. If you're the type of individual that's socially inept and dysfunctional then you'll enjoy this in your fantasy bedroom world, but there a thousand films I'd rather watch than this durge.

After seeing the movie I was astounded in so many different ways. Seeing movies my whole life has made me notice in particularly horror the ending is the most important and the part you remember the most after a long period of time. The ending in this movie was disgraceful, I was hoping to give the movie five stars for the incredible storyline and acting and genius effects used from beginning to middle but slowly drawing to the end at a certain point it all just degraded from a serious cycotic excellent film to a Tim Burton underworld fantasy which should not be seen in a horror movie therefore two stars for all the good things and obviously no stars for all the bad. Bad ending, big mistake.

Adapted from the short stories from Clive Barker, The Midnight Meat Train is a great, solid horror film with plenty of killings and plenty of gore. There is also a slow motion cgi killing scene that is gory and disturbing, but very well done. Although i am not the biggest fan of Vinnie Jones, his portrayal of the psychotic serial killer Mahongany, was brilliant and kept this film tense and creepy. Bradley Cooper and Leslie Bibb also give fantastic thrilling performances. The story is solid up to the last few scenes that seemed to go off track a bit. But other than that, this is a great horror film. Better than Book of Blood, but not as good as Dread.
