Description

Acclaimed director Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Basic Instinct) reunites with the creative team behind his hit RoboCop for Starship Troopers. This pulse-pounding adventure charts the lives of elite members of the Mobile Infantry, a corps of dedicated young men and women soldiers fighting side-by-side in the ultimate galactic war, the battle to save humankind. Their fight takes them to the outer reaches of the galaxy for an all-out war against the ultimate enemy - giant alien insects. These creatures are mysterious and incredibly powerful with only one mission - survival of their species, no matter what the human cost.

Loved it then and still do. Maybe iTunes should clear out reviews after 5 years or so since most of the reviews are moaning about rent only which would have been annoying but safe to say that has changed in the last 11 years.
  • Great film that looks as good now as it did 2 decades ago

Starship Troopers is a great “Us against Them” film that is corny but at the same time fun. It’s also a film that is full of action, where men and women fight side by side in this unflinching and gory battle against the bugs. The visual effects are over twenty years old now, but still look amazing, and are better than some of the effects seen in more modern films. If you want a film that will keep you entertained until the end, this is that film... ‘Do You Want To Know More?’ Great classic film that I have seen numerous times. It’s a film I have enjoyed every time I have seen it, and it’s definitely a film that should be in your film collection! ‘Touchstone Pictures’... Please give us the 4K remaster with Dolby Atmos that was done in 2017!

The film skips frames throughout. It looks like a poor standards conversion. Looks the same on all my devices. Subtle but very annoying.

Loved the satire and commentary back in day. Thought my friends were crazy because they didn’t want to see it because they heard in was racist , sexist and gun-ho. And I thought the World couldn’t get any cringier with it’s virtue signaling back then. Would you like to know more?

Some poeple treat this film as if it should be a 'serious' science fiction war movie. It isn't... and theyre missing the joke. Paul Verhoeven has hired a bunch of good-looking, modestly-able, young soap opera actors, got them to strip off, shout a bunch of ridiculously jingoistic remarks then given the audience a great laugh by watching them all get ripped to shreds by giant bugs, while their bosses spout such classic lines as 'They sucked his brains out!!' A multi-million dollar send-up that American audiences completely failed to appreciate (it did much better internationally) that bears little resemblance to the excellent Robert Heinlein novel from which it takes its title, it's always a film that brightens my day! Recommended!

All the reviewers are complaining that they can't buy it. But I can only buy it, when I want to rent it. WTF?

This film has to be seen to be believed, and if you believe any of it you could be considered insane, but it is sheer entertainment from start to finish. Set in a totalitarian world, every thing is perfect from the actors teeth to their brainwashed ideology. The effects deserve an oscar and the scale portrayed when the starships go to attack the bug planet is truly worthy of the word awesome. The technical quality is brilliant with superb colour and crisp, sharp images. Keep your tongue firmly in your cheek, watch this and you could attain citizenship. Do you want to know more?
