Description

The 1968 ground-breaking horror film, Night of the Living Dead, follows the lives of eight people from various backgrounds on a terrifying night where the dead rise to feast on human flesh. The strangers end up fighting for their lives in an abandoned house surrounded by the walking dead. As the night unfolds, details are revealed about the mass-murder situation through a small black and white television. It is discovered the only way to kill the zombies is to shoot them in the head: "kill the brain, kill the ghoul." The situation escalates as tensions rise and fear takes over. This is master horror director George A. Romero's original cult classic.

A brilliant, exciting and infinitely influential piece of cinema. I can only find one flaw, the age rating, 18! It's ridiculous! Jaws, which as so much more blood and gore in it got a 12 rating, is it because Jaws' antagonist was a shark whereas Night of the Living Dead's antagonists are zombies?

This move is public domain, and can be gotten for free. Even apps and podcasts on iTunes offer this for less.

Night of the Living Dead is the definitive zombie movie. If you're a zombie fan you have to watch it because this is really where the genre began. I still find the most satisfying Dead franchise movie 'Dawn of the Dead' because it is so much more fun (the shopping centre setting is genius) but this original does everything it needs to and doesn't let up from the first few moments. 8/10.

This film is public domain - the distributors messed up the copyright it when it was releases, so it can be downloaded completely free and legally from many many web sites. Read the Wikipedia page on this film for more details.

Good movie, but it's asking a bit too much by charging £6.99 I'd understand if it was something cheap like £2.99 to buy, but £6.99 is ridiculous when this movie is public domain and can be downloaded from the Internet Archive completely free and legal.

I'd just like to first comment on the review above. This IS the original you tool!!! 1968 it was made, George A. Romero created this genre of film so get your facts straight. Secondly, what a great film!! 40 years on and it still scares people. This is Romero's first of the 'dead' franchise and what started a phenomenon that has inspired many others to do so. Definately worth a watch for any horror or zombie fans.

As far as remakes go, this isn't half bad. Romero jumps straight to the zombies and the action and horror is non stop from there with barely a pause. There is no real storyline, and I guess there doesn't need to be, as the Dead series is a genre of it's own and has inspired many horror movies of today. An hour & 30 minutes of zombie madness!
