Description

Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee for Best Foreign Film, Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas) tells the true-life story of the spontaneous Christmas Eve truce declared by Scottish, French and German troops in the trenches of World War I. Enemies leave their weapons behind for one night as they band together in brotherhood and forget about the brutalities of war. Diane Krüger (Troy), Daniel Brühl (Good Bye Lenin!) and Benno Fürmann (The Princess and the Warrior) head a first-rate international cast in a truly powerful, must-see film.

I rented this film and so glad I did too. Up until now I never knew much about the 1914 christmas truce and this film brings it to light. It’s definitely worth a watch and I would watch it again. I was moved to tears. Truly remarkable!

A brilliant film about humanity and how deep down we all love our family and suffer the same way in conflict.

This is the most moving film I have ever seen. Expertly crafted there is no false sentimentality. The superb casting, directing, acting and script convey all the emotion needed within ourselves. Inspite of our failings, and the failings of those who govern us, it offers us all hope. This is a film that will stay with me for some time.

this film is very touching, to believe this actually happened too. Just goes to show, that our enemy aren't really our enemy for they too are human. i love this film so much I'm buying it now.

A deeply moving film. The history might be a little off, but it doesn't matter at all. It has such powerful emotion. The music is wonderful too. Highly recommended.

I waited until the last minute to watch this film, and wished I had watched it sooner. It is a great story and beautifully shot. I wish I had bought it rather than rented it.
