Ossie davis is superb and even one of my least fav actors (Burt lancaster) is brilliant. the star of the film is ,without a doubt, the horse. great fun and a great story with a HUGE entertainment factor. You do not know if you want to like Lancasters character but ,in the end, you have to This film shows the way that slaves were treated, with regards to preconception, and also the one sided attitude to them by people who did not, or would not, see them as equals and Lancaster and Davies have a chemistry that shoots the stereotype attitude in the foot. with all the humour you could want. Ossie wins and shows that brains coupled with brawn make for a winning combination. watch this if you love quirky 70's westerns it is well worth it
